This is the first widely recognized Tennis Instruction book, in part because the auther, Mercer Beasley, was the preeminent tennis coach at the time, having coached countless champions, and most recently the 1932 Wimbledon Singles Mens Champion, Ellsworth Vines. The book is filled with diagrams, photos and text, aimed at the beginner and the expert. Aside from Vines, Beasley also coached Clifford Sutter, Wilmer Allison, Frankie Parker, and many other champions listed on the rear flap. Beasley was also the President of the USPTA, as well as coach at Tulane, Princeton, U. Miami, Lawrenceville Prep., etc. Beasley also worked notable private clubs in Milwaukee, Pasadena and Chicago, as well as the Beverly Hills Tennis Club.
