Grâce à la contruction d'un pont tournant dans les années 1860, la concession de M. BENOIT permet au Pouliguen de s'agrandir vers l'est. Ce nouveau quartier permet aux villégiateurs d'allier le calme et l'espace dans la pinède à la proximité des commerces et des services dont dispose le Pouliguen. Vers 1880, François AUBRY est chargé par M. BENOIT d'imaginer le lotissement de la concession (François Aubry est un architecte et paysagiste français, né le 6 juillet 1841 à Rezé et mort le 22 août 1925 à Nantes. On lui doit des réalisations comme l'aménagement du quartier Benoît à La Baule-Escoublac) François AUBRY trace à partir du pont tournant deux grands axes de communication parallèles à la Mer : 1- tout au nord, une route vers Escoublac et sa gare située à La BÔLE, 2- plus au sud l'avenue des LILAS et 3- le long de la plage un chemin côtier privé, futur esplanade Benoit. Des allées perpendiculaires permettent de se rendre à la plage. dés le début, il intègre à son projet la création d'un jardin public et d'une chapelle .
