Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1881/1974. Hardcover, maroon with gold lettering. Illustrated. This is a high-quality reproduction of the 1881 edition by Unigraphic in Evansville, Indiana, which includes new binding and endpapers. Historical sections and Biographical Sketches, 442 pages; and 208 pages of Index. [Not Leather Bound, but special, attractive pebbled binding with gold lettering on spine.] This book was part of the private library of Henry J. Grund, who turned the book into a traditional library book (library markings on title page, spine, and his name stamped on bottom edge. Sticker and card holder on rear endpapers, etc.). Mr. Grund had a plan to offer his large collection of Ohio books in his home to the public for reading or withdrawal. Visitors could read certain books in his library, and if offered by Grund, could withdraw specific books and keep until assigned due dates (Thus, his library markings). Mr. Grund died before he could launch his private library plan. Condition: In addition to Grund's library-style markings, there are light marks/toning to a portion of the fore-edge. Overall, book is Near Fine. Text is clean and very readable. No tears or writing or underlines. No musty smell or the smell of cigarettes or cigar smoke. This is a comprehensive history of Hamilton County, Ohio with illustrations and biographical sketches. Collectible.
