The artist discusses a bronze casts to be exhibited at Glasgow exhibition, a visit to his studio, a thank you letter and declining a invitation from the Royal Academy due to ill health. Sir J…oseph Edgar Boehm, 1st Baronet, RA 1834-1890 was an Austrian-born British medallist and sculptor, best known for the "Jubilee head" of Queen Victoria on coinage, and the statue of the Duke of Wellington at Hyde Park Corner. During his career Boehm maintained a large studio in London and produced a significant volume of public works and private commissions. A specialty of Boehm's was the portrait bust; there are many examples of these in the National Portrait Gallery. He was often commissioned by the Royal Family and members of the aristocracy to make sculptures for their parks and gardens. His works were many, and he exhibited 123 of them at the Royal Academy from 1862 to his death in 1890. Various sizes. Condition is good. Light folding crease. More images can be taken upon request. In engem Zusammenhänge mit dem Thema Lebensrätsel steht ein Gebiet, welches den Namen Okkultismus führt. Ein sonderbares Wort, wenn man die Bedeutung berücksichtigt, welche ihm beigelegt wird. Der Laie versteht darunter gewöhnlich den Inbegriff alles Geheimnisvollen, Überirdischen und Geisterhaften, er empfindet deshalb entweder eine gewisse Scheu und Abneigung sich hiermit zu beschäftigen, oder aber die Neugierde und die Lust am Außergewöhnlichen reizt ihn, in diese fremde Welt Einblick zu suchen. Geradezu schädlich, besonders in der gegenwärtigen Zeit, ist es, wenn von solchen Personen jedes zunächst unbegreifliche Ereignis oder diesbezügliche Mitteilungen ohne weiteres für richtig hingenommen und als solche noch weitergegeben werden. - Wikipedia: Karl (Carl) Ludwig Friedrich (seit 1839 Freiherr von) Reichenbach (* 12. Februar 1788 in Stuttgart; 19. Januar 1869 in Leipzig) war ein Industrieller, Ingenieur, Chemiker, Naturforscher und Philosoph. Paper. Condition: Good. First Edition. An Original Letter written and Signed by Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm C1881. A letter inviting Doyne Bell Secretary to the Privy Council to a studio viewing together with a German delegation, the Prince and Princess Louise. Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm 1834-1890 was a medallist and sculptor, best known… for the "Jubilee head" of Queen Victoria on coinage, and the statue of the Duke of Wellington at Hyde Park Corner. During his career Boehm maintained a large studio in London and produced a significant volume of public works and private commissions. A speciality of Boehm's was the portrait bust; there are many examples of these in the National Portrait Gallery. He was often commissioned by the Royal Family and members of the aristocracy to make sculptures for their parks and gardens. His works were many, and he exhibited 123 of them at the Royal Academy from 1862 to his death in 1890. Size is 115mm x 90mm. Condition is good. Light folding creases.
