Salah Fakhry befasst sich in seiner umfangreichen Studie mit der Bestimmung des Nomens und seiner Merkmale in den beiden grossen Grammatikerschulen von al-Basra und al-Kufa von al-Halil Ibn 'Ahmad al-Farahidi (100-170 n.H.) bis zu as-Suyuti (849-911 n.H.). Der Autor behandelt die Unterschiede zwischen den Grammatikschulen und den Grammatikern, deren Anfange im Buch des basrinischen Grammatikers Sibawayh al-Kitab (gest. 180 n.H.) liegen, und er geht auf die widerspruchlichen Ansichten ein, wie sie die fruheren Grammatiker in ihren Werken vertreten haben. Es geht aber nicht nur um diePluralbildung der nativen Wörter, sondern auch um dieaus fremden Sprachen übernommenen Substantive, beidenen sich besondere Schwierigkeiten innerhalb desdeutschen Pluralsystems ergeben. Ich habe bei derUnterscheidung zwischen produktiven und unproduktivenPluralformen die Hypothese bestätigt, dass dieKlassen der Nomen mit produktiven Pluralformen neueMitglieder bekommen und wenige alte verlieren. ImGegenteil dazu verringert sich die Anzahl der Wörtermit unproduktiven Pluralformen im untersuchtenZeitraum von 1904 bis 2000 zusehends. DieseEntwicklungen und andere Ergebnisse konnte ich anhandder erstellten Datenbank und der Untersuchung derrelevanten Literatur feststellen.…
