His first book was about a whaling expedition. This is the true first printing of a book that had multiple reprints, this 1918 first printing now being very un…common and scarce. Actually, all of the early hardcover reprints are also very uncommon. Original blue cloth, gilt lettering & decorations front cover and spine. The book has some a few very faint, tiny light spots to covers otherwise quite clean and bright, slightest hint of fading spine (but much better spine than usual), small bump to top outside front cover corner, minor rubbing (= loss of color, not loss of cloth) tips of corners, browning to EPs but no browning to other pages, minimal foxing (= a few small spots in outside margin) on a few (not all) pages opposite plates (all other pages have no foxing), no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, solid binding. LACKING the very scarce dust jacket. Complete with all pages, photos, and maps. No restorations. The book measures 221mm tall x 150mm, and has 334 pages, 58 b/w photos, 2 folding maps, index. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
