Data in the form of metaphors were collected from 10 instructors and 200 students at the foreign language preparatory school of a public university in Turkey. Results revealed that the instructors depicted their professional identities under six distinct categories of metaphors, while the metaphors of the students could be categorized under 14 themes. Moreover,although some metaphors of instructors overlapped with the ones given by their students, there were some mismatches between the metaphorical expressions. Most of the instructors strongly believed that it would be beneficial to make a thorough review of their practices in the light of the feedback they got from their students.The results underline the importance of using metaphor and the role of interaction between teachers and students in foreign language teacher development. 176 pp. Englisch.…

Lo scopo di questo studio era quello di indagare la consonanza e la dissonanza tra il modo in cui i docenti universitari di lingue straniere percepivano la propria identita di "insegnanti di lingue straniere" e il modo in cui venivano percepiti dai propri studenti. I dati, sotto forma di metafore, sono stati raccolti da 10 docenti e 200 studenti presso la scuola di preparazione alle lingue straniere di un'universita pubblica in Turchia. I risultati hanno rivelato che i docenti descrivevano la propria identita professionale attraverso sei categorie distinte di metafore, mentre le metafore degli studenti potevano essere classificate in 14 temi. Inoltre, sebbene alcune metafore dei docenti coincidessero con quelle fornite dai loro studenti, si riscontravano alcune discrepanze tra le espressioni metaforiche. La maggior parte dei docenti era fermamente convinta che sarebbe stato utile effettuare una revisione approfondita delle proprie pratiche alla luce del feedback ricevuto dagli studenti. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a consonancia e a dissonancia entre a forma como os professores universitarios de linguas estrangeiras encaram a sua identidade como professores de linguas estrangeiras e a forma como sao vistos pelos seus alunos. Foram recolhidos dados sob a forma de metaforas junto de 10 professores e 200 alunos da escola preparatoria de linguas estrangeiras de uma universidade publica na Turquia. Os resultados revelaram que os professores descreveram as suas identidades profissionais em seis categorias distintas de metaforas, enquanto as metaforas dos alunos puderam ser categorizadas em 14 temas. Alem disso, embora algumas metaforas dos professores se sobrepusessem as apresentadas pelos seus alunos, verificaram-se algumas discrepancias entre as expressoes metaforicas. A maioria dos professores acreditava firmemente que seria benefico proceder a uma revisao aprofundada das suas praticas a luz do feedback recebido dos seus alunos.
