O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a consonancia e a dissonancia entre a forma como os professores universitarios de linguas estrangeiras encaram a sua identidade como professores de linguas estrangeiras e a forma como sao vistos pelos seus alunos. Foram recolhidos dados sob a forma de m…etaforas junto de 10 professores e 200 alunos da escola preparatoria de linguas estrangeiras de uma universidade publica na Turquia. Os resultados revelaram que os professores descreveram as suas identidades profissionais em seis categorias distintas de metaforas, enquanto as metaforas dos alunos puderam ser categorizadas em 14 temas. Alem disso, embora algumas metaforas dos professores se sobrepusessem as apresentadas pelos seus alunos, verificaram-se algumas discrepancias entre as expressoes metaforicas. A maioria dos professores acreditava firmemente que seria benefico proceder a uma revisao aprofundada das suas praticas a luz do feedback recebido dos seus alunos.
