Mienge ma Yehova "Hymns in the Dualla Language" -Printed in Cameroons, Western Africa at the Baptist Mission Press -1859 -An early Dualla language hymn book printed at the Baptist Mission Press in Cameroon. -8vo, 48 pages containing 90 hymns. -Bound in later black cloth. A few marks and spots to pages, but overall a good copy. This early Cameroon imprint was translated into the Dualla language by Alfred Saker of the Baptist Missionary Society. Saker established a mission station and printing press on the Cameroon River in 1848, where he began producing some of the earliest printed works in local languages. He would go on to found the settlement of Victoria (modern Limbe) in 1858. The work forms part of the earliest period of printing in Cameroon and represents an important example of nineteenth-century African language missionary printing. Works from the Baptist Mission Press are scarce, particularly early Dualla language publications printed locally in West Africa Uncommon: OCLC states 9 copies in instututions £850.
