Dichter : "In giovane età abbracciò lo stato ecclesiastico, manifestando viva propensione per gli studi letterari. [.] Perfetto conoscitore delle lingue italiana e francese, l'Alberti assorbì elementi, della cultura d'Oltralpe compiendo opera di mediazione culturale con traduzioni e con opere originali. [.] I suoi interessi cominciano però a indirizzarsi sempre più decisamente verso gli studi lessicali. L'opera più importante di questo periodo è senza dubbio il rifacimento del vocabolario francese-italiano di A.
