Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Annually a huge amount of construction and demolition (C & D) waste is generated. The negative environmental, social, and economic impacts on waste disposal to landfills, increasing waste generation with the population increase and national waste policies and legislation on recycling waste, have demanded the need for 'recycling the C & D waste'. Similarly, as cement accounts for up to 10% of global CO2 emissions (commercial aviation industry accounts for 3%), it is imperative to reduce the embodied CO2 of concrete. Thus the sustainability of concrete is a major issue which needs to be addressed. Ways of achieving this is to recycle concrete waste back into concrete to reduce waste and use cement replacements (PCRs) to reduce CO2 emissions. This project aims to take a two pronged approach by investigating the effect of PCRs with fixed proportion of recycled aggregates for all the mixes (30% by mass) to evaluate the strength and potential structural applications. The design mix was C32/40. Both GGBS and RHA were substituted for cement at a level of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50%. All the GGBS mixes and up to 20% RHA replacement satisfied the C32/40 criteria at 90 days. 100 pp. Englisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in concrete is established as cement production accounts for up to 10% of global CO2 emissions. However, Rice Hush Ash (RHA) is a relatively new SCM. This research investigated the effects of replacing CEM I & CEM II with RHA on the compressive, tensile, flexural strengths and workability of concrete primarily for usage in highway applications. CEM I and CEM II were replaced at 0 - 40%. The results showed a reduction in the workability of the concrete with increased replacement of RHA with CEM I and CEM II. Despite the poor workability, both mixes compacted well, without segregation or bleeding. The CEM II replaced concrete had a rapid strength gain, this is due to the compound C4AF in CEM II which is very reactive in the early stage and reacts beneficially with the silicate in the hydration process to form the strength giving compound calcium silicate hydrate. Most of the compressive strengths achieved for both CEM I & CEM II concrete were above the study¿s target strength of Class C32/40 or CC37. Therefore RHA can enhance the performance of concrete and most importantly confer sustainability benefits. 168 pp. Englisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -With cement accounting for up to 10% of annual global CO2 emissions (aviation industry accounts for approximately 3%) it is imperative to reduce the amount of cement content in construction materials without compromising performance. As lime mortars, especially lime putty taking up to 90 days to fully set it is important to reduce the setting time by at least 60%. This text investigates the effect of pozzolanic addition of up to 2.5% to different lime mortars in terms of setting time. It was found that in some cases the objectives were achieved, however, in some cases the findings indicated a higher amount of pozzolanic addition is necessary to achieve satisfactory setting time (by 28 days). 112 pp. Englisch.…
