Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book covers the 200 perennial grasses that dominate California's diverse landscape and are essential for livestock grazing. The author explores each grass's growth pattern, time of seed maturity, rest period, and overall life cycle and details how to best manage grazing to encoura…ge revegetation and maintain land productivity. Discussing the ecological role of each grass in the region and how it contributes to the surrounding flora and fauna, the author notes how environmental factors like climate, soil type, and altitude affect the distribution and abundance of each species. Providing a comprehensive analysis of each grass, as well as its value to humans and wildlife, this book is invaluable for ecologists, land managers, ranchers, and anyone interested in the biodiversity of one of California's most essential natural resources. Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A rare Romani of Wales bulk of the folk tales arranged and published by Dr. John Sampson in the middle of a rising race war in Old Europe. John Sampson (18621931) was an Irish linguist, literary scholar and librarian who met with a Welsh Romani musician Edward Wood during his country…side trip. The surprising meeting inspired the lexicographer for a long-term project that included significant academic publications. The present book was a limited edition private press project which included the powerful illustrations of a female artist Agnes Miller Parker (18951980). Graduated from the Glasgow School of Arts she became one of the greatest engravers of the 20th century with a monumental understanding of the volume. Her style inspired by the Art Deco plastic language has parallels with the painting of Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980). Text in English. In 4to. XI+108+[1]pp. 27,8x19 cm. Numerous monochrome woodcuts. Mustard sheepskin binding with golden lettering and three raised bands. Minimal soilings and chippings on the cover. Near fine condition. Comes with a custom made velvet slipcase and a recent Japanese translation. Extra shipping charges may be applied due to weight and size of the item.
