Detta intresse för baletten delade han med Léger, den store franske kubisten, som GAN satte högre än någon annan fransk konstnär. Gösta Nystroems Ishavsbalett hade kunnat bli en uppsättning i klass med Légers berömda baletter - med en balettdekor av GAN:skt märke. Tyvärr tilläts ej de båda nyskapande svenska genierna i 20-talets Paris att genomföra sitt projekt.
