Von 1921 bis 1926 war Ege Lehrer für Gebrauchsgraphik an den Münchner Lehrwerkstätten, von 1926 bis 1935 war er Leiter und Besitzer der Lehrwerkstätten. Er lebte als Künstler in München und Stuttgart und lehrte u.a. an der Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart. Als Gebrauchsgraphiker entwarf Ege das Bayerische Staatswappen und das bis 1993 verwendete Signet der Deutschen Bundesbahn.
