From the foreword: "Oriental studies may seem an exotic subject without any practical use for the people of such a remote country as Finland, no doubt, still was dur ing the nineteenth century. There have, however, always been talented students attracted by the fascination of the Orient, and some of the academic teachers of the subjects connected with Asia have been among the internationally best known on the staff of Helsinki University. Many of these academic teachers and explorers of Asia showed an interest in several subjects of different kinds. To quote only the best known names, M. A. Societas Scientiarum Fennica, Helsinki, 1980. 210p. ills.(B&W photographs). Paperback. Tail spine slightly bumped. Small stamp on half title. (EDMOND LIÉNARD in L?antiquité classique, 1983, pp.635-36). From the library of Prof. Carl Deroux.…
