Published in 1903, six years before Theodore Roosevelt set foot in Africa for his famous luxurious Safari, An Ivory Trader in North Kenia (Kenya) includes an account of the Rendili and Burkenegi Tribes, and 23 illustration from photographs and a folding map of east Africa at the end (all accounted for). Armed with rifles and a shotgun, the author and his party criss crossed East Africa with 40 porters carrying the supplies to hunt and collect ivory. They faced several obstacles especially when dealing with hostile tribes and unreliable chieftains. None the less, they manage to hunt Hippo, Elephant, Rhinos, Lion, Giraffe, Buffalo and other game. Fascinating descriptions about traveling that part of Africa over a hundred years ago. Decorated blue cloth featuring a Kikuyu warrior holding a spear and a shield in gold. The book is Sought after by collectors of Africana, no dustjacket was issued, spine titles bright and printed in gold.
