Top edge dust soiled, and the fore edge spotted, encroaching a fraction to occasional margins, and with so…me further quite light spotting to a dozen preliminary leaves. Some light partial toning to the free endpapers. A very good copy in the uncommon dust wrapper (the first issue, priced at 7/6 net), which is a little toned at the spine panel, and lightly soiled, rubbed, and spotted with several tiny fractions of edge loss, and an area of surface abrasion where it would appear a small sticker has been removed. A book of humour and anecdotes by the noted English crime writer Anthony Berkeley Cox, published the same year as his anonymous crime novel debut, 'The Layton Court Mystery' which first introduced his regular amateur sleuth Roger Sheringham (both 'The Layton Court Mystery' and his other book of humour 'Brenda Entertains' appear in the rear advertisements). Includes his Conan Doyle pastiche 'Holmes and the Dasher'.

Reeve is famous mostly for the 82 Craig Kennedy stories, published in Cosmopolitan magazine between 1910 and 1918. These were collected in book form; with…the third collection, the short stories were published grouped together as episodic novels. The 12-volume publication Craig Kennedy Stories was released during 1918; it reissued Reeve's books-to-date as a matched set. The Adventuress was the first full-length novel to feature scientific detective Craig Kennedy. Contains 244 pp. Cheap paper tanning to the closed text block edges, feint pencil name to the half-title. Very Good condition book in Very Good condition dust wrapper with one small chip to the bottom front edge, spine not faded with the paper being particularly crisp and bright. Last book listed to the inside rear flap, first edition by Harper and Brothers was first published in 1917. Dust wrapper supplied in archive acetate film protection. Member of the P.B.F.A.
