A "Nova York", David Bowie, Al Brown, els joves autors de "graffitti" a les estacions de metro, Pasolini, Maria Callas i les ingènues referències a la cocaïna creen una temporalitat dislocada que ja no té res a veure amb la ciutat concreta de L?Evangeli segons un de tants i els altres llibres del segon període de Blai Bonet: Barcelona era una ciutat, Nova York és la Ciutat. Blai Bonet (Santanyí, 1926 ? Cala Figuera, 1997), poeta, novel lista i crític d?art. Fill de família humil, va ingressar al seminari, però va haver d?interrompre els estudis eclesiàstics a causa de la tuberculosi. Bonet va escriure des del risc i la revelació, i la seva obra explora el cos, la fe, el desig, la malaltia i la paraula amb una intensitat extrema que trenca convencions formals i temàtiques.
