He is accustomed to reviews 'which however kindly and appreciative have nevertheless so woefully manipulated my facts'. He gives as an example his 'good friend Baker of the Union', who 'in the kindliest & most cordial spirit put words in my mouth, statements of scientific fact [.] But it is as you have so often told me. The only way to establish a truth is to pound away at it, iteration and reiteration.'.

The two items are in good condition, lightly aged, and both folded for postage. Both 1p, 12mo. ONE (evidently to Grant Reid, editor of the Northern Figaro, Aberdeen): Signed 'E. W. Nye'. Recipient not named. 'My dear Sir / Your favor of the 9- asking for a photograph to be used in your admirable publication is just received. / I have none that are at all suitable for your purpose but in Regent street at Mr Van der Weyde's studio I am quite sure you can get a very good one and I enclose an order for it, hoping you may get it without delay, fir I would be proud to figure among the artistic portraits done so well as the Figaro does them.' TWO (to Henry Van der Weyde): Signed 'Bill Nye'. Addressed to 'My Dear Mr Van Der Weyde' and reading: 'Will you kindly supply Mr Grant Reid with one of those masterly Dutch Reformed Photographs of mine and make me yet more your debtor and obdient servant / Bill Nye'.

Discusses the introduction and acclimatisation of trout in New Zealand as well as angling methods and locations. "The book devotes only 9 pages to the North Island and some 50 pages to the South. The book is short on illustration: a single folded plan of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society's ponds at Masterton and a couple of plates of sketches of Otago trout are the only support for the large folding map 'shewing' the trout streams of North and Middle (South) Islands." Johann Baptist Moser, Volkssänger, 1799-1863). - Wilhelm Wiesberg spielte in Kinderkomödien im Wiener Theater in der Josefstadt und war Mitarbeiter der Zeitschriften Figaro, Kikeriki, Zeitgeist und Der Floh. Nachdem er seine Stellung nach dem Börsenkrach 1873 verloren hatte, wurde er Volkssänger. - Durchgehend etwas gebräunt und knittrig. Mit späterer Sammlernotiz in Bleistift: "Geschrieben von Wilh. Wiesberg / Von dessen Witwe erhalten am 4/9 1922".
