Bob Merkh is a veteran powerlifter, educator, coach, and community leader whose life has been shaped by iron, discipline, and service. With decades under the bar and thousands of students in the classroom, he has spent his career teaching others how to pursue strength with purpose—both physically and mentally.
As a competitive lifter, Merkh has competed at the highest levels of powerlifting and holds multiple world records. He is the only person in history to both squat and bench press over 1,100 pounds in sanctioned competition, a distinction earned through longevity, resilience, and an uncompromising work ethic. His career has included catastrophic injuries, hard-earned comebacks, and a deliberate approach to competing on his own terms.
Beyond the platform, Merkh has guided more than 2,000 students as an educator, built a gym rooted in accountability and inclusion, and helped cultivate a community defined by effort rather than ego. His work extends beyond sport into mentorship, leadership, and advocacy, with a focus on redefining strength, masculinity, and resilience.
Bob lives with his wife and children, continues to teach and coach, and believes that real strength is built through consistent effort, honesty, and the courage to grow.
