Matthias Blum

Matthias Blum is an economist with research interests in long-run economic development, economic history, and applied econometrics. A central theme in his research is how some economies have overcome underdevelopment, while others still struggle to do so. He has published in leading journals in the field and has taught economics and business students at various levels, ranging from introductory economics courses, to research-oriented courses in postgraduate programmes. Matthias holds a PhD in Economics from the Universität Tübingen, and has been based at Queen’s University Belfast since 2014.
