Paperback. Condition: Fine. A few years before his death in 1984, the conceptual artist Stan VanDerBeek recalled a dream he had of the ideal exhibition space: a dark room with "projected images, movies, and stills everywhere," which he playfully referred to as "Amazement Park." Taking inspiration from that dream, this project combines artwork by the influential filmmaker and artist with work by his daughter, Sarah, and son, Johannes, both contemporary artists. This unique book captures the ensuing exhibition: a studio-like space that changed every month for one year and featured works by all three artists. The drawings, photographs, video and sculpture that revolved in and out of the exhibition reflect the artists' common interest in re-combination and collage, ephemeral materials and architectural forms. The experience afforded son and daughter the chance for a working dialog with each other and their father, who died when they were still children. Editor Ian Berry interviews Sara and Johannes VanDerBeek about their work and that of their father, and essays explore each artist's oeuvre in detail.

Softcover. White card wraps with color image and blue lettering. 175 pp. with 104 illus. Edited by Gloria Sutton. With an essay by Ina Bloom and an interview of the artist by Roxana Marcoci. "Sara VanDerBeek's photographic and sculptural arrangements emulate a poet's economic use of structure, phrasing and rhythm to suspend images and multiple processes within a rigorously shaped framework. This first book-length study presents close readings of VanDerBeek's (*1976 in Baltimore) experimentation with photographic capture, printing, cast-concrete forms, and built environments that draw on diverse material cultures. Ultimately, the book richly distills the chance, process, physicality, reflection and recollection of her site visits to Detroit, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Rome, Paris, Naples, Rotterdam and New York between 2006 and 2016. Contributions by international scholars and curators offer an oblique angle not only into VanDerBeek's vital practice, but also the ways VanDerBeek is shaping current debates on the relationship between image and object within contemporary art." (from the publisher's web site). VG; unread but with light shelf wear.
