First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near fine. First Edition. The largest collection of science fiction and fantasy by the husband and wife team of Henry Kuttner and C.L. Moore ever published. The duo usually wrote together but the stories were typically credited only to Kuttner. This edition has a frontispiece by Richard Powers and an introduction by the book?s editor, David Curtis. The edition was either 200 or 300 copies, as the colophon gives both figures and it was not signed. 916 pages plus the limitation leaf. Black cloth spine; red cloth over the boards. Spine stamped in gilt. 7-7/8 by 10-5/8 inches, in a black-cloth covered slipcase. First edition (of this collection). This copy has a binding flaw?two of the gatherings are not quite flush with the spine, creating a shallow ridge on the fore-edge of the book. The slipcase is a bit dusty; the red cloth has loose threads in a few places. As with many early CP books, there are many variants. This copy does not have a tissue guard over the frontispiece and the number of the limitation, 67, is printed. Some copies are hand-numbered.
