Seller: Amnesty Bookshop - Brighton, Brighton, United Kingdom
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. This is the third impression of 'my four volumes of ghost stories under one cover;' according to the book's Preface, which was apparently 'demanded by my publishers.' The tone, perhaps, reflects the author's view of this demand - are the stories based on his own experience? No.on that of others'? No, does he have any theories as to the writing of ghost stories? None that are worthy of the name and so on. Condition (external): the black cloth boards are quite faded, rubbed/marked in places and with some fraying at the head and tail of the spine. While the book's structure is intact, along the front and back boards joint with the spine, there is a tear to the cloth revealing a little of the underlying binding materials - see images. Tight binding. Condition (internal), there is mild tanning - slightly more apparent on the preliminary and final pages. The front free endpaper has a signature, presumably of a previous owner, in ink in the top right-hand corner. pp. xii, 647/8vo. 31 stories. Please note that, depending on destination, we may request a payment to cover any extra shipping/postage charges. Proceeds to Amnesty International. Abe2407.
