Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Early printing. "an original presentation of sight and sound work that leads rapidly to independent and intelligent reading; Manual of Instruction for the use of teachers; Primer (First Half-year's Work); Part I: Reading by the Word Method; Part II: Sight and Phonic reading combined." Octavo, 7 2/3? tall, 72 pages, brown titles on orange boards. A very good minus, generally clean, neat original hardcover edition with minor shelf wear but 3/4" by 1/4" chip to the top of the rear cover at the spine; binding tight, but paper light to moderately yellowed. Without dust jacket, as issued.

Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. This book is bound in light brown boards with darker brown cover lettering and with the design of two trees around the title; there is no title to the spine. The cover is lightly soiled, the corners and ends of the spine are bumped and shelf worn, the pages have come away from the spine, but are still holding together well. The end papers are lightly age yellowed and have the stamps from the "Town of Rockport", there is a piece of linen tape affixed to the bindings, front and back. The third free page has a little girls name in pencil and a water stain (which goes to pg.19) on the very edge and does not harm the lessons; the interior finger smudges and is age yellowed. The colored frontispiece is of a little girl in a pasture. There are many colored and black and white pictures throughout this book. The last free page has scribbles and some words in pencil. 174pp. including the index,
