Later "New Edition" printing in 1851 with "Cabinet Cyclopaedia" colophon at spine base (presumed to refer to Lardner) This is a smaller size volume, 4-1/2 by 7 inches, with attractive ribbed cloth with blind embossed keylines and corner motifs. Gilt faded to spine, remains readable. Some wear/fraying to two spine corners, the hinges are supple and binding tight even in endpaper gutters. Nice engraved portrit of Bacon on title page, fine engraved titling, text block clean and free of foxing, a few pencil lines to margins. Cloth unfaded with minor handling. vii+372pp. Size: 12mo.
