From the late 1860's through the early 1900's Charles Higginbotham worked at a variety of watchmakers, becoming Superintendent of Seth Thomas and later of the South Bend Watch Company. Some of the Chapter Headings; The Mainspring, Calculation of Watch Trains, Watch Jewels, Escapements, Cylinders, Balance Truing, Magnetism, Springing, cleaning, Workmanship. 345 pages, with Index, illustration throughout with precise mechanical line drawings as well as some b&w photos, 5-1/2" X 7-3/4". Dark brown cloth covered boards. Title and author name on the front and spine panels in gold. Cover boards are flat, corners are not bumped or worn. Age appropriate tanning to the text pages. Edges of the text pages show some mild age foxing spots at the top edge. Two spots of discoloration on the back pastedown page where the adhesive has shown through over the years. No dust jacket.
