Thénot's Practical Perspective, for the Use of Students. Included are sixty-seven plates on thirty-seven leaves (plus an additional duplicate leaf in this copy), illustrating the principles outlined in the text. "Lessons in perspective primarily for the artist, for example: drawing buildings, roofs, arcades, and circular steps; determining shadows; determining reflections in water and reflection of objects in glasses or mirrors" - Schimmelman. "This English translation of a French work was one of the earliest for students on the subject of perspective published in this country; the first was by a British author, John Varley, and appeared around 1819.
