Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into a profound exploration of the conversion and apostleship of St. Paul, offering a compelling argument for the divine revelation of Christianity. The author meticulously examines the historical context of St. Paul's transformation from a zealous persecutor of Christians to a devout apostle of Christ. Set against the backdrop of the Roman Empire and the early years of Christianity, the book dissects the challenges and improbabilities surrounding St. Paul's mission to the Gentiles. The author skillfully analyzes the social, political, and religious landscapes of the time, highlighting the immense obstacles St. Paul faced in spreading the Gospel. By scrutinizing St. Paul's motivations, actions, and the extraordinary circumstances of his conversion, the author presents a thought-provoking case for the authenticity of his experience. The book delves into the complexities of faith, reason, and the transformative power of belief, prompting readers to contemplate the enduring impact of St. Paul's legacy on the history of Christianity and the world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Buch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 1785. Mr. Lyttleton's observations on the conversion and Apostleship of St. Paul are found in a letter to Gilbert West. In a late conversation Lyttleton and West has together upon the subject of the Christian religion, Lyttleton told West that besides all the proofs of it which may be drawn from the prophecies of the Old Testament, from the necessary connection it has with the whole system of the Jewish religion, from the miracles of Christ, and from the evidence given of his resurrection and the Apostleship of St. Paul, the author thought the conversion and the Apostleship of St. Paul alone was of itself a demonstration sufficient to prove Christianity to be a divine revelation. Due to the age and scarcity of the original we reproduced, some pages may be spotty, faded or difficult to read. Written in Old English.…

Small chip to head of spine, ownership inscription dated 1768 on the "Resurrection" title page. Both West and Lyttleton were notable poets of their day; Lyttleton was also a patron of the arts, and Henry Fielding's "Tom Jones" is dedicated to him. Both men also had an interest in landscape design. These two works of theology represent another of their interests; Lyttleton's has an interesting thought experiment about Quakers (p. 95): "If, for Instance, A Quaker should in a Meeting of his own Sect, tell all the Persons assembled there, that to some among them was given the Gift of Healing by the Spirit of God, to others the working of other Miracles, to others diverse kinds of Tongues, they would undoubtedly account him a Madman, because they pretend no such Gifts." He goes on from there. …
