Griechische Textausgabe der Apokryphen des Alten Testaments, redigiert von Christian Wilhelm August (auch: Augusti). Sohn des Pfarrers Ernst Friedrich Anton Augusti und Enkel eines Rabbiner, wurde am 27. Oktober des Jahres 1771 in Eschenberga geboren. Er besuchte ein Gymnasium in Gotha und studierte ab 1790 an der Universität Jena. Acht Jahre später, 1798, wurde er an der gleichen Universität Privatdozent. Außerordentlicher Professor der Philosophie wurde Johann Augusti 1800. 1803 ordentlicher Professor der Orientalischen Sprachen. 1808 promovierte er an der Universität Rinteln zum Doktor der Theologie. Von 1812 bis 1819 war er als Professor der Theologie an der Universität Breslau, ab 1819 an der Universität zu Bonn tätig. In den Jahren 1812 bis 1814 war Augusti Rektor der Friedrich-Wilhelm-Universität Breslau. 1828 ernannte man ihn zum Oberkonsistorialrat und sieben Jahre später, 1835, zum Konsistorialdirektor.- Papier gebräunt u. stellenweise etw. braunfleckig.

La traduction du Nouveau Testament, de Tremellio et de Théodore de Bèze comme dans l'édition de Londres, 1585, revue ici par Du Jon, qui ajoute ses notes. Le texte de T. de Bèze est revu et corrigé par Jean de Tournes qui utilisa l'édition de Londres, 1587 et consulta Bèze lui-même. Of fundamental importance for the spread of Calvinism, it relied on heavily by the compilers of the King James Version. The translation and commentaries are by Emmanuele Tremellio (Tremellius) and François Du Jon (Junius) for the Old Testament, and by Du Jon for the Apocrypha. The translation of the New Testament, by Tremellio and Théodore de Bèze as in the London edition, 1585, revised here by Du Jon, who adds his notes. The text by T. de Bèze is revised and corrected by Jean de Tournes, who used the London edition, 1587, and consulted Bèze himself. The notes of the various commentators (Tremellio, Du Jon, Bèze, Loiselier, Viller, Jean de Cherpont) are distinguished by typographical signs. Each part has its own title page. The title pages to the Old Testament read "Bibliorum pars secunda [-tertia, quarta] ." and "Libri apocryphi, sive appendix Testamenti Veteris .". The divisional titles to part 4 and the Apocrypha are dated 1592. That to the New Testament reads "D.N. Jesu Christi Testamentum Novum ." and bears the imprint "Londini, excudebant reg. typograph. Anno salutis humanæ 1592.". Tremellius's and Be`ze's versions of the New Testament are printed in parallel columns. P6, 2S6, 4X4 and 2[L]4 are blank. Bound in modern tan goatskin with handmade paper endpapers. Old endpapers preserved. Titlepage laid down with minor loss at lower corner. Some wear to lower blank corners at both ends of the volume, evidence of its having been disbound fora considerable time. Occasional unobtrusive ink marka and a few other signs of use, but the contents generally clean and crisp. A very good copy. STC 2061.5.
