First Edition Limited to 200 copies printed by The De Vinne Press. quarto, original three quarter beige boards and cloth. T.e.g. 36 pp. followed by 63 plates. The Grolier Club, Illustrated with 63 black and white photographic plates of bindings, including early, crudely-stitched 16th century bindings, those that are elaborately inlaid and gilt, bindings in silver, and a medieval chained library. A prolific book collector himself, Hoe's speech discusses each plate in detail, the books represented probably taken from his own collection. Bookplate on front pastedown. Spine and boards heavily foxed, though with only minor affect to plates. quarto, original three quarter beige boards and cloth. A lecture on the art of bookbinding by Robert Hoe, New York printing press manufacturer and a highly important book collector. Hoe (1839-1909) was a founding member and first president of the Grolier Club. In 1895, he established the Club Bindery. One of two hundred copies, printed on Holland paper by the De Vinne Press. ASAF GROLIER 4. ONG & HOLZENBERG (GROLIER) P7. Half title. Quarto. Original three-quarter linen and cream paper boards, boards ruled in gilt, spine gilt. Binding rubbed, stained, and soiled. Text lightly tanned, light to moderate foxing, dampstaining to top edge of several pages. Good.
