Promotional piece issue to publicize the nationwide release of Kubrick's controversial film. It contains a long review of the film by John E. Fitzgerald (with the note that Fitzgerald was fired by the Catholic Church's "Our Sunday Visitor" publication for naming it as one of the year's 10 best films despite it having received a "C" (Condemmed) rating). There is an interview with Kubrick, various editorials and critical review comments and the piece is illustrated with color photographs and reproductions. Quite scarce due it its ephemeral nature. Very good, some embrowning to the open edges.…

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. (BURGESS, Anthony and Stanley Kubrick) Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange, based on the Novel by Anthony Burgess. Abelard-Schuman, 1971. 9"x 6", ca. 150 (unpaginated) pp. Cloth, with dustjacket. Fine copy in a VG dustjacket. This is basically the movie told in stills, with dialogue and narration. [++] SIGNED presentation by Burgess. Note: this book was signed for me by Burgess. Initially Mr. Burgess reacted viscerally--"Oh, THAT horrid thing", he said, and explained that he didn't want to sign it, it wasn't his movie. I did point out that it was his book, so he laughed, scribbled through Kubrick's name (on the title page) a bit, and signed it over. It is a nice story about Burgess and what he thought of the movie. Why am I selling it? I don't need this anymore, after probably 40 years--it is time for it to go elsewhere.…

Octavo, bound in full morocco by the Harcourt Bindery, gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, gilt ruling to the front and rear panels, gilt inner dentelles stamp-signed by the Harcourt Bindery, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Boldly signed by Anthony Burgess on a page bound in. In fine condition. An exceptional presentation. The cinematic adaptation of A Clockwork Orange was accidental. Screenplay writer Terry Southern gave Stanley Kubrick a copy of the novel, but, as he was developing a Napoleon Bonaparterelated project, Kubrick put it aside. Soon afterward, however, the Bonaparte project was cancelled and, sometime later, Kubrick happened upon the novel. It had an immediate impact. Of his enthusiasm for it, Kubrick said, "I was excited by everything about it: The plot, the ideas, the characters, and, of course, the language. The story functions, of course, on several levels: Political, sociological, philosophical, and, what's most important, on a dreamlike psychological-symbolic level". Kubrick wrote a screenplay faithful to the novel, saying, "I think whatever Burgess had to say about the story was said in the book, but I did invent a few useful narrative ideas and reshape some of the scenes.".…

Contact seller5-star sellerOriginal LP of Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange. Signed by Anthony Burgess on the front cover. In near fine condition. This is the first record we have seen signed by the creator of the classic novel. The soundtrack of A Clockwork Orange comprises classical music and electronic synthetic music composed by Wendy Carlos (then Walter Carlos). Some of the music is heard only as excerpts, e.g. Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 (aka Land of Hope and Glory) ironically heralding a politician's appearance at the prison. The main theme is an electronic transcription of Henry Purcell's Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary, composed in 1695, for the procession of Queen Mary's cortà ge through London en route to Westminster Abbey. "March from 'A Clockwork Orange'" (based on the choral movement of the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven) was the first recorded song featuring a vocoder for the singing; synthpop bands often cite it as their inspiration. Neither the end credits nor the soundtrack album identify the orchestra playing the Ninth Symphony excerpts, however, in Alex's bedroom, there is a close-up of a microcassette tape labeled: Deutsche Grammophon â" Ludwig van Beethoven â" Symphonie Nr. 9 d-moll, op. 125 â" Berliner Philharmoniker â" Chor der St. Hedwigskathedrale â" Ferenc Fricsay â" Irmgard Seefried, Maureen Forrester, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Ernst Haefliger.…

Contact seller5-star seller[Film] Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Archive of 4 Original Vintage silver gelatin photographs used as lobby cards in movie theaters. Warner Bros., 1971. All about 8" x 10" in glossy black and white. A Clockwork Orange is a dystopian crime film based on the novel by Anthony Burgess. It follows a social delinquent named Alex and shows violent images to comment on psychiatry, juvenile delinquency and other social, political and economic subjects in a near-future Britain. The film received polarized reviews for its graphic depictions of violence, and was cited as having inspired copycat acts of violence. As a result, the film was removed from British cinemas and was banned in several countries. It was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture in 1972 and is listed on the British Institute's list of the world's greatest films. Several photos feature action shots of Malcolm McDowell as Alex, including one from the iconic opening at the Korova Milkbar. Several others are behind the scenes shots of Stanley Kubrick directing. Two feature production credits along with the date and Warner Bros. logo in the lower white margin. One has an addition caption pasted on the verso: "Alex (MALCOLM McDOWELL) agrees to have his prison sentence commuted to the experimental Ludovico Conditioning Technique" with additional production credits. All in very good condition.…

Contact seller5-star sellerKubrick, Stanley. A Clockwork Orange (1971) examined state authority, behavioral conditioning, and youth violence within a near-future Britain shaped by social instability and cultural anxiety. Adapted from Anthony Burgess's novel, the film follows a juvenile offender subjected to experimental psychological treatment, presenting explicit depictions of violence alongside institutional attempts at control. Its polarized reception, including withdrawal from exhibition in the United Kingdom and bans in multiple countries, situates the work within debates over censorship, media influence, and the limits of representation. Nominations for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, further positioned the film within critical and institutional recognition despite ongoing controversy. Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Burbank: Warner Bros., 1971. Archive of 5 original vintage silver gelatin photographic lobby stills. Glossy black-and-white prints measuring approximately 8 x 10 inches. The images include staged scenes featuring Malcolm McDowell as Alex, depicted in his recognizable costume of bowler hat and white attire, often in confrontational or performative poses that emphasize the film's stylized violence and theatrical composition. Several stills present group scenes of youth gangs and moments of physical aggression, while one photograph captures Stanley Kubrick directing on set, providing production context. Most prints retain lower margins with production credits, date, and studio insignia, consistent with their use as theatrical display materials. Produced during a period of heightened concern over crime, youth culture, and state intervention, A Clockwork Orange contributed to broader cultural discourse on free will, punishment, and media effects. Its continued inclusion in critical rankings of major films underscores its lasting interpretive significance. Light handling wear with minor edge wear; overall very good condition. A cohesive group of exhibition stills associated with one of Kubrick's most debated works.…
