This edition contains all the letters of "Junius," Philo Junius, and of sir William Draper and Mr. Horne to Junius, with their respective dates, and, according to the order in which they appeared in the Public Advertiser. Letters also to and from the Duke of Grafton. This collection of… private and open letters is critical of the government of King George III from an anonymous polemicist (Junius). English historians allege that Junius was Philip Francis, though his identity has yet ever really to be established. Letters were written between 1769 and 1772. Published in two volumes first in 1772 by Henry Sampson Woodfall, the owner and editor of a London newspaper, the Public Advertiser, from which these are drawn. Rebound in blue library buckram cloth, gilt lettering to spines. Surprisingly bright, clean and unmarked paper, scattered foxing, mostly up front then dissipating. This collection includes several score to individual men but nearly 30 to the newspaper. Was Junius Philo Junius himself? Inquiring minds want to know.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
