Beautifully Illustrated Bible, Containing the Old and the New Testaments and having 37 Illustrated Plates ( 3 of them Coloured Maps). The Commentary on The Old Testament is by Rev. Robert Jamieson. A Second Illustrated Title Page before the "Poetical Books, starting with the Book of Job, is Illustrated with Our Lord in the Garden of Gethsemane. Commentary by Rev. Jamieson and Rev. E. H. Bickersteth. Frontispiece opposite has a lovely Illustration of the Madonna and Child. Small closed tear in lower margin. The New Testament begins with a Printed Title Page stating that the Commentary is by Rev. Edward Henry Bickersteth. Frontispiece Illustrated with The Three Magi following the Star. Text is arranged in Double Columns with References in narrow inner margins. Copious Footnotes. 14 3/4" Tall. Text ends at Revelation XXI. Pages a little age darkened. Full leather with all edges gilt, five raised bands to spine, and gilt title, with marbled endpapers. About 14-1/2 x 11 with 730 pp. (vol. I) and 459 pp. plus one and 423 pp. plus PSALMS OF DAVID AND SCRIPTURE PARAPHRASES. The outer binding on the heaviest volume (#2) is heavily shaken with the front and rear covers ALL BUT DETACHED and cracking along the spine leather with the joints heavily weakened. Some mild color fading to the covers with some wear marks. The first few pages of volume #1 with new archival tape. FAMILY RECORD from volume #1 has MARRIAGES with a few entries with dates of 1839, 1843, and the 14th of February, 1865 (near the end of the Civil War). HEAVY VOLUMES, NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING!
