Condition: molto buono. in-24, pp.  426, (6) di indici, bell'antiporta inciso. Bella legatura coeva in p. pergamena e titolo manoscritto al dorso. Rara edizione originale (purtroppo comprende solo il primo volume di due) di una delle Piccole Repubbliche, da non confondersi con la seconda (1644), il cui frontespizio riporta erroneamente la data della prima.  L'autore (Greetsiel, Frisia Orientale, 1547 - Groninga 1625),  fu storico, rettore della scuola latina di Norden (1579-87), posto che lasciò perché calvinista. Fu quindi lettore a Leer e a Groninga, dove (1614) ebbe parte preponderante nella fondazione di quell'accademia. Scrisse la prima storia scientifico-critica della Frisia (Historiarum Frisicarum decades, 1616).  Buon esemplare.  Willems: 364. Book.

He had studied at the Rostock University and later in Geneva with the Calvinist Theodorus Beza, by whom he was greatly influenced.
