Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a systematic account of the bony fishes collected during the Austrian Novara expedition from 1857 to 1859. The author makes significant contributions to the classification of fish species by recognizing several new species and amending the existing system. Through an analysis of comparative anatomy, morphology, and ecology, the book unravels the diversity, distribution, and relationships among marine fishes. It provides a solid basis for understanding the evolutionary history and biology of fishes, serving as a valuable resource for ichthyologists and evolutionary biologists. The meticulously detailed descriptions and illustrations enhance the book's utility as a reference guide for researchers, students, and anyone interested in the fascinating world of fishes. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
