The boards are a little bumped around the edges and the spine is slightly cocked. The dustjacket is quite worn and grubby with various scuffs and tears around the edges and some minor losses. There is a prize certificate (dated 1938) pasted on the front endpaper. The pages are tanned with age and have some scattered foxing (mainly to the page edges).

Hordern's Store Sydney 1934", which is the only previous owner marking in the book. It was first issued in 1915 when the title characters were delivering their messages in the Great War. It's a big book, at 5.5 x 7.5 in., 288 pages and a full 1.5 in. wide. It's very clean, tight, bright and trim throughout and well-constructed with high quality materials. Jacket in new mylar, 3 glossy b&w illustrations by F. Gillett. Great old book.
