Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Why are we creative? Why are we not? In The Dialectic of Creativity, Hermann Vaske explores these questions in conversations with Marina Abramovic, Vivienne Westwood, David Hockney, Georg Baselitz, Bjoerk, Jeff Koons, Zaha Hadid, Christo, Yoko Ono, Damien Hirst, Jim Jarmusch, Shirin Neshat, David Bowie, and many more of the most influential creatives of our time, identifying the stimuli as well as the beta blockers, the killers of creativity: Spirituality, sex, money, fear, nurture, ambition versus censorship, self-censorship, bureaucracy, compromise, distraction, gatekeepers. Often it is those very blockages, the threats to creativity that allow it to thrive. A dialectical synthesis of opposites. Today, as we are facing an existential threat to our planet, it is time to come up with new ideas, more creative than ever. The Dialectic of Creativity explores all facets of creativity-artistic, intellectual, philosophical, and scientific. It is accompanied by a film trilogy and an exhibition. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Condition: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Seiten: 292 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | One of the most important developments in the episteme of our time is the recognition that all being and all knowing are socially conditioned. This recognition raises the question of subjective creativity: Is creativity or innovation possible? What is the locus of creativity? Is it the subject or the structure of the structures of being of which the subject is part? Any notion of creativity that takes seriously the condition of being is therefore bound to deal with the perennial issue of freedom and determinism. Dialectic of Sedimentation and Innovation examines the contribution of Paul Ricoeur to this question for the purpose of theological consumption. Ricoeur¿s philosophical reconstruction of the subject as self creates a space midway between the modern self-positing subject and the postmodern deconstructed subject where reason rules but does not tyrannize. It is from this space that he proposes a view of humanity that argues that to be human is to be homo voluntas, homo lingua, and homo capax. Dialectic of Sedimentation and Innovation seeks to theologically appropriate these notions for Africäs quest for a new creative identity.
