John Murray Albemarle Library edition. Mary Theresa Olivia Cornwallis-West was the wife of Hans Heintich XVI of Pless till their divorce in 1923. Her brother, George was stepfather to Winston Churchill, having married Winston's widowed mother, Jenny, till George and Jenny divorced. Daisy's eldest son, Hanwell, fought for Germany in the First World War. He was a stretcher bearer in London in WW2 and probably unjustifiably detained under Reg 18B (the Mosley detention) as of 'hostile origin'. Daisy's diaries record her reminiscences in the vanished world od European aristocracy till 1914. Plates. 312 pages. Quoted postage for UK 2nd class. Overseas at least £12.05.

Book has some faint yellowing to edges of pages but is otherwise very sharp and clean, with bright cloth and a solid binding. Dust jacket has a long closed tear along front flap fold, chipping and wear to corners, light sunfade and small scuffs to spine. otherwise jacket is still presentable and now protected in an archival cover.

Condition: Good. 1950. 1st thus. 312 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Green cloth. Boots library rebind with associated stickers and markings to pages and boards. Pages are clean and bright, and appear almost good as new. With minimal tanning to edges Binding has remained firm. Boards have slight shelf wear with bumping to corners. Spine ends are a little crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Boards are slightly bowed. Slight forward lean to text block.

Corners lightly bumped with touch of wear to tips. Internally clean, unmarked if not a touched tanned throughout. Navy blue boards have light mottling, seen only in right light and angle, with gilt device to front. Hinges remain firm with just a small tear t lower rear gutter. KRM/Euro History.
