Spine slightly faded, small tears at top of spine, ends & corners slightly bumped, a few small dog-ears. Binding starting at 160-1, lays open at pages 174-5 but not cracked. Betrothed is an 1825 novel set in the 12th century Welsh Marshes. It is a part of ScottÕs long series of Waverley novels and a companion piece to his previous book, Talisman. It takes place during the Third Crusade and follows heroine Eveline. The Highland Widow is included in his short story collection Chronicles of the Canongate but has also been published on its own as a novella. Set during the Seven Years' War, it follows Elspat MacTavish, a widow who lives with her son Hamish, who she wishes was more courageous like his father. Canongate is a collection of ScottÕs short historical fiction published in 1827 and 1828. Sir Walter Scott, 1771-1832, was a popular and prolific Scottish novelist, historian, biographer, and poet.
