Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - Nach den jüngsten elektronenmikroskopischen Untersuchungen, hauptsächlich durchgeführt von den Verfassern Büchner und Onishi, treten bei experimenteller Druckhypertrophie des Herzmuskels folgende Veränderungen der Feinstrukturen an den Herzmuskelzellen ein: Sofort nach Einsetzen chronisch gesteigerter Druckarbeit die kernnahe Anreicherung geformter Kernsäuren als Polysomen, im gesamten Ablauf der Hypertrophie Bildung von Ergastoplasma und Golgi-Systemen und als das Produkt beider zunächst ungeordnetes, später geordnetes neues Herzmuskelfilament. Dieses wird in das Gefüge der alten kontraktilen Fasern der Herzmuskelzellen eingebaut und bewirkt deren zunehmende Verdickung und vermehrte Leistungsfähigkeit. Schließlich wird aber die Blut- und Sauerstoffversorgung des hypertrophierten Herzmuskels infolge der zu großen Muskelmasse insuffizient, so daß es vor allem zu hypoxischen Schädigungen der Mitochondrien und zu beträchtlichen Mitochondrienverlusten sowie, nach den Untersuchungen der Biochemiker, zum Mangel an energiereichen Phosphaten und schließlich zum tödlichen Versagen der Eiweißsynthese im Herzmuskel kommt.
