I appear to have the Only original copy of Canons of Criticism: An Introduction to The Development of English Poetry by C. W. Macfarlane. Take a look around the Internet to see if you can find another copy. It was published in 1885. These canons may not have been… as popular as the author had hoped as this 133-year-old book is in excellent condition. Take a look at the photographs. The gilt lettering on the spine for example is very bright. You can see that the brown covers are not soiled, that the spine has held up very well. The flaws are quite minor, a couple of tiny holes/tears and a small spot of loss on the middle edge. Another small spot of loss on the bottom edge of the rear cover (see third photo). This book is very well-bound. No issues at all. There is very light spotting on the front free end paper, a small spot at the bottom of the title page (see photo), a slightly larger one at the bottom of the verso contents page. However, scrolling through the rest of the pages they are very clean, not aged and in excellent condition. And there is no writing or underlining anywhere. Nor are there any markings. The only actual flaw I would bring to your attention is cosmetic. There is a light creasing or impression off the top edge of the pages near the middle, in other words where the opposite pages meet. It would appear as though some object was once pressing against this area leaving this impression. I've provided a photo (last one) which picked it up pretty well. This light impression does not, as you can see, reach the text.
