Hardcover. Condition: Fair-. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red line stamped cloth boards with gilt design on front and spine. Exterior is in rough shape with cloth peeling and chipping on all sides, exterior spine is cracked and also chipping, corners are rounded. The front board is held on basically just by the binder string. Despite the condition of the exterior of the book the interior binding is in much better shape. The text pages are tight and book is complete. Pages are toned due to age and moderate foxing and spotting is present throughout. Front end page contains signature of original owner (Genevieve Flowers). No bookmarks, no library markings present. The frontispiece has a large tear starting in the lower left. This tear was mended with tape many decades ago in the tape has become brown and brittle. Tissue guard still present for the frontispiece. The only publication date in the front is on the copyright page which shows only 1855. The reason for the 1857 date is because this is what appears on the first advertisement page in the back of the book.
