(Charles Dixon was a prolific author with around 25 books, mostly on British Birds, published between 1880 -1909. He was for many years in business at Torquay, Devon, from where this book was written, but subsequently moved to London. Many of his books were illustrated by Charles Whymper, though this title is not illustrated. This is the first edition of one of his more important books, with a number of subsequent revised editions published.) Size: 8vo. Book.

John H. Rappole's sophisticated survey of field data clarifies key ecological, biological, physiological, navigational, and evolutionary concerns.
