In stock in Ireland - PAPERBACK - good condition - with shelf scuffing - covers are scuffed - spine is uncreased and the spine text is clear - page block is clean and tidy - 1997 edition - This book has a place in the treatment of the patient with disorders of back and joints. The introductory chapters explain what is Yoga and this helps to bring the reader nearer to accepting Yoga as a method of treatment. The emphasis on the role of functional stress could be dangerous. The treatment for organic disease could he delayed or totally denied to the patients. The orthopaedic surgeon has done well to explain common joint problems in simple terms, yet he has not sacrificed scientific facts. This will help patients to dispel doubts. The place of asanas and their appropriate use in individual cases is a very, very useful prescription. Claims to cure with Yoga must be backed up by scientific proof. When relief is obtained by learning to live with the affliction Yoga would prepare the patients mentally better than any medical treatment. This useful book will have limited exposure since it is written in English. It deserves publication in other languages for larger benefits to the society.
