The first page of the main text has a substantial chip (3cm x 1.5cm) across the top corner, with loss of text. The central area of both upper and lower boards are rubbed. Small area of leather restoration to top of spine. New endpapers. Very good condition. An important guide to heraldry, beautifully engraved with hundreds of examples, with comprehensive information on the composition and application of each. Hugh Clark (1745 - 1822) was a heraldic engraver, a printmaker and a poet (British Museum). An attractive copy of a fascinating book.
