Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The aim of this retrospective, single-center study was to collect long-term clinical and radiological results for the Mayo® short stem prosthesis. We included 51 patients and 61 hip prostheses implanted between 2000 and 2003. The Harris Hip Score (HHS) was used to assess patient satisfaction and functionality. The Forgotten Joint Score (FJS) was used to assess the perception of the artificial joint in everyday life. X-rays were used to check the reconstruction of leg length, stem position, femoral offset, and center of rotation. The presence of radiolucent lines and periarticular ossifications was analyzed. After a mean of 164 months, the HHS was 84 points and the FJS was 68%. Leg length was not significantly altered. The stem position was 1.6° valgus. The femoral offset was increased by 6 mm and the center of rotation was medialized by 6 mm. In 14 cases, radiolucent lines appeared in Gruen zones 1, 2, 3, and/or 7. Periarticular ossifications were present in 27 Mayo® prostheses in stages 1-3 according to Brooker. The Mayo® stem is a reliable implant with comparable long-term results.…

Se incluyeron 51 pacientes y 61 prótesis de cadera implantadas entre 2000 y 2003. La puntuación Harris Hip Score (HHS) evaluó la satisfacción y la funcionalidad de los pacientes. La puntuación Forgotten Joint Score (FJS) evaluó la percepción de la articulación artificial en la vida cotidiana. Mediante radiografías se comprobó la reconstrucción de la longitud de la pierna, la posición del vástago, el desplazamiento femoral y el centro de rotación. Se analizó la presencia de líneas radiotransparentes y osificaciones periarticulares. Tras una media de 164 meses, se obtuvieron 84 puntos en la HHS y un 68 % en la FJS. La longitud de la pierna no se modificó de forma significativa. La posición del vástago era de 1,6° en valgo. La compensación femoral se aumentó en 6 mm y el centro de rotación se medializó en 6 mm. En 14 casos aparecieron líneas radiotransparentes en las zonas de Gruen 1, 2, 3 y/o 7. Se observaron osificaciones periarticulares en 27 prótesis Mayo® en los estadios 1-3 según Brooker. La diáfisis Mayo® es un implante fiable con resultados a largo plazo comparables.…
