Kartonnen map met 24 inliggende bladen waarop getypte verzen in doorslag zijn geplakt. Met veel correcties en aanvullingen, maar foutloos qua spelling. De laatste pagina's zijn voorzien van (5) heel kleine, gekleurde tekeningetjes. Nauwelijks een clou te vinden voor zijn identiteit, behalve dat hij mogelijk uit Maastricht kwam. De onbekend gebleven soldaat Dr. De Rijmelaar had weinig last van hoogdravendheid en gekunsteldheid. Hij bakte dikke stapels versjes van de eenvoudigste soort, waarin het leven als gemobiliseerde soldaat in de Peel in de winter van 1939-1940, of afzwaaiend lid van de Irene Brigade in Wolverhampton (1945), of bij de politiële acties in Indië een humoristisch-realistische vorm kreeg. 'De Tandarts heel ver, dat was heelemaal geen grap/ Die eischte vaak looppas want de tijd was zeer krap.' 'De X-ray aan den anderen kant,/ Werkt met veel dames, aan loopende band'. 'In Princepeel, het was zeer afgelegen/ Was een Hospik, gereed en ook altijd bereid/ Voor kleine akkefietjes zoals wij ze kregen/ Maar de dokter uit Mill was de autoriteit'.
