Very good condition overall.; Catalogue from the exhibition held at Pallazzo Venezia, in Castelli and in Teramo, showing 180 pharmaceutical jars.; "It is with pleasure and satisfaction that I affirm that the exhibition about the ancient pharmaceutical ceramic in Castelli, which is shown to the national and international public, follows and increases our knowledge of the phenomenon of the ceramic production of Castelli. It is a phenomenon which lead Castelli, a small town in the hinterland of Abruzzo region, hard to reach, among the the most important historical centres in the field of ceramic production. In particular in the 15th and 16th and 17th centuries with the masters of the istoriato style, the Grue, Gentili, and Cappelletti families, it reached the highest level of artistic expression and became the reference point for the Italian and foreigner com- mittents. The results of the researches made the past decades widely document the importance of the produc- tion in Castelli in the 16th century. They discovered that the prestigious pharmaceutical sets and the dinner sets used in the Court which were claimed by the most important centres of the Italian production belonged to the Castelli and that already in the 16th century these ceramics were sold in the capital of the Reign, Naples, and also in the Mediterranean reaching lugoslavia and Spain. This exhibition shows for the first time a particular ceramic production, the pharmaceutical production." excerpt from the introductory text by Enzo De Rosa, Mayor of Castelli.
