Hardback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 431 pages; 7 p. index; 1620 humorous stories, each numbered and indexed according to category; from the Introduction: "Nothing has been included of a suggestive nature, or that will needlessly offend anyone. The matter is humorous, but the purpose is usefulness. .(It is) a real handbook of the best material that can be found, and such that busy men and women can make use of on short notice." Book condition: Cover corners and spine ends have some wear; book edges have darkened to a light tan tone, as have the page surfaces throughout; the rear inner hinge paper cover is half cracked--hinge is still adequate. The (c) page announces that this a "Wartime Book" (WWII), so it came out in the early 1940's as a Abingdon-Cokesbury reprint, bearing only the (c) date, 1938 by the first publishers Whitmore and Smith.
