Reverend William Ellis (1794187…2) was a London Missionary Society representative who captured some of the earliest, most significant photographs of Madagascar during three visits between 1853 and 1865. Trained by photographer Roger Fenton, Ellis used photography to document the Malagasy people and support missionary efforts.
